Samphire Hoe is home to many species of wildlife including more than 220 species of birds of all kinds: native visitors, newcomers, summer and winter.
Birdwatching is very popular at Samphire Hoe. Hoe beach's location, just across the English Channel from mainland Europe, means it can be an important area for migratory birds.
The bird-record area includes all of Motica, plus the cliffs beyond, the offshore sea and beaches to the east and west.
