Description
Robin, one of two species of thrush (family Turdidae) characterized by a dull orange or reddish chest. The American robin (Turdus migratorius), the great North American thrush, is one of the most famous warblers of the eastern United States. Early colonial settlers named it the robin because the color of its chest resembles that of the smaller thrush, the robin (Erithacus rubecula).
