Description
The IOC World Bird List is an open access resource for the international ornithological community. Our main goal is to facilitate worldwide communication in the fields of ornithology and conservation, based on the most recent evolutionary classifications of the world's birds and a series of English names that follow explicit guidelines for spelling and construction.
To keep up with the current taxonomy revision industry, the IOC editorial team and consultants update the web-based list every January and June/July. Updates include changes to names or recommended classifications, additions of newly described species, corrections to nomenclature, and updates to species taxonomies.
