Arthur Morris is a freelance photographer, writer, educator, and tour guide who specializes in birds. He is widely recognized as the best bird photographer in the world and one of the best nature photography instructors of his time. In his books, on his website and on his blog, he shares his knowledge of photography and birding that is second to none.
He taught elementary school in New York City for 23 years. For eight years he conducted shorebird surveys in the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge for The International Shorebird Surveys, Manomet, Massachusetts. Eight of his photographs have won awards at various BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competitions. His Fire in the Mist image is the full cover of Light on Earth, a 20-year compilation of the winning and best-recommended images from the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. His Gannet's In Love was awarded first place in the Professional Birding category of the 2009 National Wildlife Federation competition and first place in Art in Nature of the 2009 Best of Nature competition. He has received several award-winning drawings in each of these competitions.
